The Semi-Retired Foamer has been a railfan since he was around 5 years old, oh yes a very young age, an age when one really should avoid being involved with the gunzel community to any great extent. A few rather unsavoury people bringing that fact home.
After a few decades of train chasing, one decided to break with protocol and get married, thus leading to a severe cut in railfan activity.
Subsequent dealings with hate breeders, lunatics, mental defectives and self-appointed preservation overlords lead to an even greater decrease in my hobby participation.
However things have changed thanks to our small group of trusted mates, interest has returned, and now I have become a bit more involved yet again.
.
_
Over the years I have tried my best to further both the hobby, as well as the friendships that it brings. I have done this by setting up proactive groups both here in Australia, as well as the Philippines. It is with huge honour that I am often considered the founding father of the railfan hobby in the Philippines (my second home).
_
I don't take the hobby too seriously and I am a friend to anyone who is good and genuine. But never forgive those who have used their hate to destroy my hobby or hurt the friends within it.

Let's Make The Hobby Great Again!
I aim to share the era that I considered mine, the 80s and 90s. I also like to help promote, and even raise funds for, the various heritage societies that keep the era alive

RANDOM BUS GUFF PT5

Despite promises made in part four that it would be a long time before I painfully inflicted more bus photographs upon the world, I have already found more than enough to compile this for your viewing boredom.

This time there is a mix of photos (70s-2000s) from Australia, Fiji and the Philippines. Most were taken by me, others taken by my grandparents.

Bus and Truck Museum tow truck on King Georges Road at Roselands. This was back in the day when they were still situated at Tempe.

First bus photo I took in the Philippines.
I actually think it is outside Manila, on the road from Sta Rosa to Tagaytay.

Back when school excursions meant a ride on a classic bus.
Thankfully my nan took a few shots of these at the rear of Sans Souci Public School.
Yeah, that's me in the top shot, next to board the bus.

Centralian Tours was a favourite operator of  my grandparents, having gone on numerous of their tours.

I am not much into the buses that followed the old Mercedes. But this type is dwindling in number and have suddenly become worthy of aiming the lens at.

That's it for me this year, taking a couple of weeks break from the online work and abuse.
A HUGE thank you to everyone who has followed my blogs in 2020, a year that has been terribly hard for most of us, I really hope everyone sees a huge improvement in 2021.
Enjoy...

FROLICKING FRANK - SEASON 1

This year I was lucky enough to have my ol mate Frank Kirk offer to let me put his Victorian (and elsewhere) videos on YouTube.
While I have a little big of Victorian footage to go up, the majority of the VHS tape collection had deteriorated well beyond what could be used, even on my low-quality channel.

The first season, seen below, was primarily taken around the Bendigo (Victoria) area, and has a wide variety of locomotive types.
Technical issues gave us a few dramas, the most obvious is the timing details at the bottom of a number of videos.
While this is going to continue into season 2, Frank tells me he has worked out how to remove it, so it should be resolved down the track.
Anyway, nothing can detract from the wonderful Victorian goodness in each episode.

Please Enjoy.

Part 1 - Bendigo, Bendigo and Bendigo.

Part 2 - Yep, even more Bendigo.

Part 3 - Frankie vertures to Adelaide.

Part 4 - Back To Bendigo.

Part 5 - Frankie takes a look around Bendigo.

Part 6 - Love those C class things?
Frank removes himself from Bendigo, in an effort to see some of these strangely popular beasts in action.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

A huge thank you to my mate Frank Kirk for giving us the opportunity to see his rail videos.
Season two will be a mixture of model, and real, train action. While he assures me that the future holds some pretty awesome older train operations.

Firstly, I would really like to thank everyone who has shown a big interest in the Delec series.
It has come as a bit of a surprise and, as such, I shall continue it in 2021. At least while the interest is there.
If anyone has any Delec related documents (not photos) they would like to scan and contribute, please email to me at my alcogoodwin email address. You will be credited of course.

Thanks again and Merry Christmas to all.

9020 is turned at Delec.
The 90 class only ever visited Sydney to make use of the Delec wheel lathe. Nowdays this is done up in the Hunter.
Today 9020 is one of the unlucky few in storage.

8130 is very faded candy livery.

8172 was one of two 81 class to wear the 1988 Bicentennial livery.

Another candy 81 class, this one looking to have had some repair work necessitating a repaint of the cab front.

8001 seen both in her original Indian Red and in the later Freightrail Blue liveries.
The first shot, at Hope Street, was after she had a collision, the bend in the frame being quite noticeable.
She has since gone to god.

Preserved 4520 in Delec shed for the open day alongside now scrapped 8012.

4499 and 4898 out in the paddock.
Both locomotives have since been scrapped.

The 44 class era, in government operation anyway, was fast approaching an end. In the final weeks we would regularly haunt both Delec and the nearby Hope Street.
On this night, 4486 is headed out of Delec, stopping briefly on the Hope Street crossing.
4486 is one of the lucky ones in preservation.

Newly repainted 44240 sits at Delec.
She would later go through the disgrace of wearing the Freightrail Blue livery, before being scrapped and put out of her misery.

4306 and 8139 in Delec shed.

4701 was an unusual visitor to Delec. The 47 class were never to be seen here on most of our visits.
4701 is not preserved, while 4886 is now 48201 with Graincorp.

A collection of locomotives outside Delec shed in 1986
8036, 42204 and X201 are all gone.

The Delec Locomotive Depot series will recommence next year.
