A1 241 - Still in service

SW5 840 - Thought to be stored in Newport. VicSig has no details, but has a photo of her there in 2004.

W2-1275 (formerly 275)

Built: 1929 (W-275)

Withdrawn 1929 to become a W2

Withdrawn 1938 to become a SW2

Renumbered 1275 to avoid number duplication in 19??

Withdrawn in 1988 and sold. Now in Bendigo.

W5 801 at Malvern Depot

12-3-1987

Possibly already set aside as it is listed as being sold in 1987, the first W5 to be sold, due to bad body condition.

Current situation is unknown.

600/620/660 Class Railcars

The fleet as of October 2019, including photos of  57 members of the classes, in most liveries worn by them.
These railcars once serviced the metropolitan areas of Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong, as well as many rural branchlines, however they are now retired from service with many now finding homes in preservation.

W2 637 MELBOURNE TO BRISBANE

Via Newcastle and Wollongong

From what I understand, 637 went from Melbourne to the 'Newcastle Tramway Museum', where her electrical gear was used to restore R1.1995.

The was sold to a Lance Carr who moved it down to Brownsville by the time I found her in 2016 (photos above). I remember being told at the time that she was available for purchase. However, a lack of room in the boot saw it remain there.
It would seem she is destined for a brighter future on display at Everton Plaza in Brisbane.

637 was recently reported (Facebook link above) to have been taken to Everton Park (Brisbane) to be part of a redevelopment of Everton Plaza.
Channel 7 mistakenly reports it as being old Brisbane tram 74.

Preservation Update - Merriwa

An occasional look at the developments taking place around my favourite museums.

I have long felt that promotion of museum efforts/successes is key to the further growth of each project. Failure to reveal progress deters people's interest, thus reducing possible volunteer help and funds.

Merriwa Railway Society Inc
There has been some massive progress at this museum in recent times.
Their most recent working bee, on June 15th, saw their busy volunteers spraying weeds and doing some painting around the yard crane and goods shed.

  In another exciting development, the museum has commenced enquiries with the national rail safety regulator, with a view to gaining accreditation to operate section cars around the yard, both for weed spraying duties and to give the yard more of an operational look.

Mount Morgan Railway Museum

Queensland - October 1996

While staying in Rockhampton back in the far more exciting year of 1996, we decided to go and check out the Mount Morgan Railway Museum.
Mount Morgan is situated 38 kilometres from Rockhampton and is situated on a line that once climbed the Razorback Range by way of a rack railway.
A bit of a Google suggests that the rail operations may not still be occuring. It does, however, receive mostly positive reviews on TripAdvisor.
I guess we were lucky to have been able to visit back when it was operational, as it was a very enjoyable ride along the old line.

Can anyone confirm the current situation regarding operations?
