The Semi-Retired Foamer has been a railfan since he was around 5 years old, oh yes a very young age, an age when one really should avoid being involved with the gunzel community to any great extent. A few rather unsavoury people bringing that fact home.
After a few decades of train chasing, one decided to break with protocol and get married, thus leading to a severe cut in railfan activity.
Subsequent dealings with hate breeders, lunatics, mental defectives and self-appointed preservation overlords lead to an even greater decrease in my hobby participation.
However things have changed thanks to our small group of trusted mates, interest has returned, and now I have become a bit more involved yet again.
.
_
Over the years I have tried my best to further both the hobby, as well as the friendships that it brings. I have done this by setting up proactive groups both here in Australia, as well as the Philippines. It is with huge honour that I am often considered the founding father of the railfan hobby in the Philippines (my second home).
_
I don't take the hobby too seriously and I am a friend to anyone who is good and genuine. But never forgive those who have used their hate to destroy my hobby or hurt the friends within it.

Let's Make The Hobby Great Again!
I aim to share the era that I considered mine, the 80s and 90s. I also like to help promote, and even raise funds for, the various heritage societies that keep the era alive

W2 637 MELBOURNE TO BRISBANE
Via Newcastle and Wollongong

From what I understand, 637 went from Melbourne to the 'Newcastle Tramway Museum', where her electrical gear was used to restore R1.1995.
The was sold to a Lance Carr who moved it down to Brownsville by the time I found her in 2016 (photos above). I remember being told at the time that she was available for purchase. However, a lack of room in the boot saw it remain there.
It would seem she is destined for a brighter future on display at Everton Plaza in Brisbane.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

637 was recently reported (Facebook link above) to have been taken to Everton Park (Brisbane) to be part of a redevelopment of Everton Plaza.
Channel 7 mistakenly reports it as being old Brisbane tram 74.

Thanks to Trolley Wire Magazine.

Tempe Basin Motor Boat Assoc Tramway
Tempe, NSW

It has been many, many, years since I dropped by to check out the tramway that was used to carry boats from Cooks River into a large nearby boat repair place.
On my last visit, it was still very much in use and, while still mostly intact, part of the site has been redeveloped as a childcare centre and rail access between water and yard is no longer possible.
A good three quarters of the boat yard is still there and, while full of boats and other guff, it all looks largely disused.
The old traverser is still in place, as is the numerous tracks that ran off of it. The new childcare centre covers the section that joined the main track that ran out across Holbeach Avenue and down into Cooks River.
Given the future of the rest of the yard must be bleak, I thought I would snap off a few photos.

  Below be the result.

Letter To The Editor.

Pertaining to my 'Elcar 7-11-1989' posting.

Mick McGinty writes (well, he types)

From the car listing in your Blog Brad, I can advise of the following bits of info for you:

DIM 8048 was an accident victim from 1987 which never ran again,
T 4813 was also an accident victim which never ran again.
C 3802 was one of the four experimental Double Deck Power cars which was being converted to T 4798 however work was stopped and it was scrapped along with T 4813 in August 1990.
C 3804 is also one of the four experimental Double Deck Power cars. Despite it's number, it was in fact the first of the first four cars delivered and the first Double Deck Power Car in the world. It is no displayed at NSW Rail Museum at Thirlmere.

Image result for funny thank you
This mail has prompted me to wish to issue a 'Thank You' to all those who regularly help me with questions and further information. Their help add so much value to all the photos I have taken over the decades.

Mick McGinty (above) and Roy Howarth are the spark info legends.
Bradly Coulter endlessly helping with loco guff.
My brother Daven Walters, well he seems to know something of everything.

Then there has been so many, many others who have contributed further information of the years. To you all, thank you. It makes the effort of doing this so much more worthwhile.

TEMPE - Mk2 LEYLAND LEOPARD
An Interesting Find.

This bus was found near Cooks River at Tempe on September 10th.
It's former Sydney number has not been determined, nor the reason why it has been sitting here for a while. The passenger area is sealed up pretty tight.
The 'ASB' on the side stands for 'Alien Spice Bar'.
The business is based in St Peters, so it may just be a convenient parking location.

Any bus experts able to identify her former number?

MEMORABILIA THEFT FROM JUNEE.

Can You Help Kev Shultz Find
His Collection?

***Announcement****

Sometime between the hours of 18:00 Sunday night the 08-09-2019 and 09:00 Monday morning the 09-09-2019, my double garage/man cave was broken into, resulting in many tools, cherished and valuable items go missing, including different railway memorabilia which I have collected over many years. Unfortunately, due to the high on going cost of insurance, there was no insurance to cover the items, so as you could imagine I’m devastated...

Entry was forced through one of the two roller doors, backing on to the back lane in my street, and because of the nature of the items that have been stolen, it looks to be a targeted attack????

Obviously I have spoke to the police and investigations are continuing.

So,.....I send a shout out to everyone, especially my fellow railway comrades and collectors, could you please be on the look out on any social media pages, eBay, Gumtree, private collectors etc, for any of the following more unique and valued items:

*Any C class Locomotive memorabilia. (Except for HO scale locomotive models.)
*5 inch gauge 1/12th scale “C” class V/Line liveried “Live” locomotives.
*Clyde Engineering oval makers plates, with model/serial numbers from 76-825 to 77-833.
*C class cab side number plates, C504, C502, C507.
*Copy/replica C501 plates.
*5 chime Leslie Supertyfon S5t Horns x 2.
*Any ATN Access/Australian Transport Network memorabilia.
*Light blue and yellow Locomotive front headlight assembly with globes.
*C class “back lighted” front and rear number boards.
*HSV (Holden Special Vehicle) tool chest and socket sets.
*Lincoln Air compressor, 50 litre V twin, light blue in colour.

If you see any of these items arise and you are not sure of the ownership etc, could you please contact Junee Police on 0269241144 or myself directly on 0459760276, where the item can be checked against the full list of items on mine or the police data base.

Thanks Guys.
Kev

Listed on above site as still in service with Armavia, but Wikipedia says that airline, like Ansett, also went into bankruptcy in 2013.
Planespotters lists it as last being leased (from Unibank) to 'Atlantis European Airways' and returned in October to 2018 and now presumably stored.

A huge thanks to my brother Daven Walters and planespotters.net.
