The Semi-Retired Foamer has been a railfan since he was around 5 years old, oh yes a very young age, an age when one really should avoid being involved with the gunzel community to any great extent. A few rather unsavoury people bringing that fact home.
After a few decades of train chasing, one decided to break with protocol and get married, thus leading to a severe cut in railfan activity.
Subsequent dealings with hate breeders, lunatics, mental defectives and self-appointed preservation overlords lead to an even greater decrease in my hobby participation.
However things have changed thanks to our small group of trusted mates, interest has returned, and now I have become a bit more involved yet again.

Over the years I have tried my best to further both the hobby, as well as the friendships that it brings. I have done this by setting up proactive groups both here in Australia, as well as the Philippines. It is with huge honour that I am often considered the founding father of the railfan hobby in the Philippines (my second home).

I don't take the hobby too seriously and I am a friend to anyone who is good and genuine. But never forgive those who have used their hate to destroy my hobby or hurt the friends within it.

I aim to share the era that I considered mine, the 80s and 90s. I also like to help promote, and even raise funds for, the various heritage societies that keep the era alive

GOULBURN CROOKWELL HERITAGE
RAILWAY!


In Memory Of Ruth Stewart.

G'day. I have been somewhat slack in finally getting around to putting these shots up.
Way, way back in the ancient days of 2017, the S*M*U*T group headed on down to Crookwell for a BBQ fundraiser.
  While the last train ran in 1985 (line opened in 1902), the very active 'Goulburn Crookwell Heritage Railway (GCHR)'  have restored the station precinct in Crookwell. The station building itself has been restored and turned into a fascinating museum display showcasing hundreds of railway artifacts.
  I had not been to Crookwell for many years and was stunned to see the difference these guys have made.
The whole day was much enjoyed and we cannot thank the members enough for making us so welcome.
If you are passing through the area, be sure to call in on the guys. Contact them via their website for details of when people will be there.

  The group has many fantastic plans and would certainly love to hear from anyone who would like to become a member and help as a volunteer.
Currently, operation of trikes around the yard is limited to members only. But going from the regular progress reports, it shall not be long until the yard has been restored to a standard suitable for passenger haulage.

STONY POINT LINE - 11-3-1987
Victoria

The Stony Point line (opened to Baxter in 1888, the rest in 1889) has held a special interest for me since first crossing the line at Baxter in the 1980s.
It has services to Stony Point suspeded in 1981, but were reintroduced in 1984.
The line has had four branches over the years.

Baxter - Mornington (1889-1981)
Bittern - Redhill (1921-1953)
Long Island Junction - Long Island (1969-now)
HMAS Cerberus (?-?)

The following is a selection of photos taken on March 11th, 1987. This would be the earliest of a number of visits made to the area over the years.

Still handing out the last of my latest 'Along Da Riles' magazine.
Plans are afoot for another that will be very much railway modelling based as a bit of a test for such a type of magazine in the Philippines.
This magazine was printed in Australia and handed out for free in the Philippines to help promote the hobby there.

WYONG STATION INFRASTRUCTURE
Opened: August 15th 1887

This morning I received some photos taken by Andrew Tailby, a NSW based heritage infrastructure specialist. 
Andrew devotes a lot of his time photographing station buildings and infrastructure to share knowledge with others with a like-mind interest around the world.
His continuing efforts have spanned a few decades and not only do I feel he should be acknowledged for doing so much for promoting heritage railway infrastructure, I feel honoured that he has chosen our websites and Facebook pages
to share it all with.
He has generously offered an in-depth look at a selection of NSW railway stations from time to time.

Chewing gum remnants thought to go back to 2017 during a major even on the Central Coast line that saw Nigel Brocklesby (OAM) caught mid chew by his train to Sydney arriving two minutes early.
The garbage bin, see other photo, was too far away for it to be conveniently dumped within.

December 8th saw the regular Tramfest celebrations happening in Nambour.
Tramfest is a fantastic event, setup to raise funds for plans to use the heritage tramway down Howard Street for a tourist tram.
Once up and running, the potential for the future is incredible.
This could turn out to be a huge draw card in the future, especially if there is a push for the occasional use of local sugar industry historical items as well as the trams.
