GOULBURN CROOKWELL HERITAGE
RAILWAY!
In Memory Of Ruth Stewart.
G'day. I have been somewhat slack in finally getting around to putting these shots up.
Way, way back in the ancient days of 2017, the S*M*U*T group headed on down to Crookwell for a BBQ fundraiser.
While the last train ran in 1985 (line opened in 1902), the very active 'Goulburn Crookwell Heritage Railway (GCHR)' have restored the station precinct in Crookwell. The station building itself has been restored and turned into a fascinating museum display showcasing hundreds of railway artifacts.
I had not been to Crookwell for many years and was stunned to see the difference these guys have made.
The whole day was much enjoyed and we cannot thank the members enough for making us so welcome.
If you are passing through the area, be sure to call in on the guys. Contact them via their website for details of when people will be there.
The group has many fantastic plans and would certainly love to hear from anyone who would like to become a member and help as a volunteer.
Currently, operation of trikes around the yard is limited to members only. But going from the regular progress reports, it shall not be long until the yard has been restored to a standard suitable for passenger haulage.
A huge thanks to the following for their kindness on the day:
Lenny Stewart, Manfred Melchert, Bruce Nelson, Gordon Stewart, Albert Melchert, Claude Riley, Michael Sheppard Morris, Ruth Stewart and David Mollar.
GCHR is a group worthy of our support.

Part of the amazing museum collection. Prepare to spend a long time
looking through this incredible collection.
The day coincided with my 48th birthday, a fact that got out and lead to the group surprising me with a birthday cake.
I was quite moved by it all I must admit.
Check out Crookwell in the 80s.
More on the Goulburn Crookwell Heritage
Railway coming soon.
Stay tuned y'all.
