The Semi-Retired Foamer has been a railfan since he was around 5 years old, oh yes a very young age, an age when one really should avoid being involved with the gunzel community to any great extent. A few rather unsavoury people bringing that fact home.
After a few decades of train chasing, one decided to break with protocol and get married, thus leading to a severe cut in railfan activity.
Subsequent dealings with hate breeders, lunatics, mental defectives and self-appointed preservation overlords lead to an even greater decrease in my hobby participation.
However things have changed thanks to our small group of trusted mates, interest has returned, and now I have become a bit more involved yet again.
.
_
Over the years I have tried my best to further both the hobby, as well as the friendships that it brings. I have done this by setting up proactive groups both here in Australia, as well as the Philippines. It is with huge honour that I am often considered the founding father of the railfan hobby in the Philippines (my second home).
_
I don't take the hobby too seriously and I am a friend to anyone who is good and genuine. But never forgive those who have used their hate to destroy my hobby or hurt the friends within it.

Let's Make The Hobby Great Again!
I aim to share the era that I considered mine, the 80s and 90s. I also like to help promote, and even raise funds for, the various heritage societies that keep the era alive

STREAMLINERS 2022 - PART 1 - THE PEOPLE

Well, it has been a long time coming, but the October long weekend finally saw the second Streamliners event down at the Goulburn Roundhouse.

It was never going to be easy to top the 2016 event, but from appearances, it seems Bernie and the Streamliner gang pulled it off.

This time I decided to head there for the opening day, having gone on Sunday the first time round. The crowd had already started when we arrived at 9am, and continued to grow during the course of the morning.

While most came for the locos, afterall that was the whole point of the event, for me it was the catching up with a large number of old friends, meeting new ones I've only known online, and even meeting some viewers of my YouTube channel, that made the day as great as it was.

As one grows steadily more aged and derelict, suddenly the social side of the hobby becomes far more important.

Shame it takes events like this to bring everyone together.

Now to wait for the much hoped announcement of a Streamliners #3.

Whats say Bernie????? :-)

A guy who is probably as iconic as all the locomotives he brings together.
While there is a large team of people who work hard to bring Streamliners together, there is no doubt that without Bernie Baker's vision, and hard work, it would never have become a thing.
Bernie is seen here giving the opening speech.

Along with P22, World Series 961 was one of the main things I looked forward to seeing on the day.
961 is one of only four members of her class still surviving and has recently been saved for the future by the '961 Preservation Group'.
Whoever they are :-)

The awesome Chris Walters, an incredibly talented photographer, designer, publisher, and mate.
Never catch up enough with this chap.
Chris, along with Motive Power Publications, were behind the Streamliners Program handed out at the entrance.

Sadly a good portion of the actual museum was blocked off for this Streamliners. Some parts were still accessible though.

CLP9 front and centre on the turntable.
The livery has variously been nicknamed 'Vegemite' and 'McDonalds', but is actually advertising 'Auscision Models'.
It sure does make a striking view and will be covered more in part 2.

If you are an Aussie railfan and don't know the names Leon Oberg and Mark Carter, it may be time to look for a different hobby.
Two of our country's leading rail photographers and great blokes.
