The Semi-Retired Foamer has been a railfan since he was around 5 years old, oh yes a very young age, an age when one really should avoid being involved with the gunzel community to any great extent. A few rather unsavoury people bringing that fact home.
After a few decades of train chasing, one decided to break with protocol and get married, thus leading to a severe cut in railfan activity.
Subsequent dealings with hate breeders, lunatics, mental defectives and self-appointed preservation overlords lead to an even greater decrease in my hobby participation.
However things have changed thanks to our small group of trusted mates, interest has returned, and now I have become a bit more involved yet again.
.
_
Over the years I have tried my best to further both the hobby, as well as the friendships that it brings. I have done this by setting up proactive groups both here in Australia, as well as the Philippines. It is with huge honour that I am often considered the founding father of the railfan hobby in the Philippines (my second home).
_
I don't take the hobby too seriously and I am a friend to anyone who is good and genuine. But never forgive those who have used their hate to destroy my hobby or hurt the friends within it.

Let's Make The Hobby Great Again!
I aim to share the era that I considered mine, the 80s and 90s. I also like to help promote, and even raise funds for, the various heritage societies that keep the era alive

-------------------------------------------------------------

8124 at Delec on November 4th, 1990.
Hunter based 81 class were never very common during our Delec visits. However, on this day 8115, 8119, 8124, 8126 and 8132 were all in attendance.

All of these are still in service with Pacific National.

Preserved 4306 sits at Delec on the night before the depot open day.

A much, much, MUCH, younger me between 4486 and 4446 in the final days for the class.
4446 would go on to be scrapped, much to the upset of the photographer, however 4486 was purchased by the 'Lachlan ALCo Group' and is preserved.
Photo: David Xuereb

4701 now belongs to the 'Lachlan Valley Railway' and still sees commercial service. She is currently wearing the yellow and black livery of 'Southern Shorthaul'.

Both 8502 and 4611 have gone to the big roundhouse in he sky.

8501 was one of the lucky sparks to survive into preservation. She is owned by the 'Sydney Electric Train Society', while the only other class member to survive, 8507, is owned by the 'Dorrigo Steam Railway & Museum'.

4805 in a new Red Terror repaint, sitting next to 42207 in her unique (for the class) light blue version of the Freightrail Blue livery.
4805 was saved from scrapping and, more recently, has been sitting at the former Broadmeadow loco depot in horrific condition. It is not currently known if she still actually exists.
42207 is doing far better, remaining in use with 'One Rail' as their 2207.

Needless to say, 4804 has since been scrapped.

4830 was heavily stripped by the time of this shot.
She has also been long scrapped.

4405 was one of my personal favourites, but that was not enough to see her survive following the Cardiff Auction.

---------------------------------------------------------

While not directly Delec related, I found this while searching the archive for Delec related guff.
It was the auction that greatly changed what would be seen at the depot from there on.
