The Semi-Retired Foamer has been a railfan since he was around 5 years old, oh yes a very young age, an age when one really should avoid being involved with the gunzel community to any great extent. A few rather unsavoury people bringing that fact home.
After a few decades of train chasing, one decided to break with protocol and get married, thus leading to a severe cut in railfan activity.
Subsequent dealings with hate breeders, lunatics, mental defectives and self-appointed preservation overlords lead to an even greater decrease in my hobby participation.
However things have changed thanks to our small group of trusted mates, interest has returned, and now I have become a bit more involved yet again.
.
_
Over the years I have tried my best to further both the hobby, as well as the friendships that it brings. I have done this by setting up proactive groups both here in Australia, as well as the Philippines. It is with huge honour that I am often considered the founding father of the railfan hobby in the Philippines (my second home).
_
I don't take the hobby too seriously and I am a friend to anyone who is good and genuine. But never forgive those who have used their hate to destroy my hobby or hurt the friends within it.

Let's Make The Hobby Great Again!
I aim to share the era that I considered mine, the 80s and 90s. I also like to help promote, and even raise funds for, the various heritage societies that keep the era alive

BOREE CREEK 2021

This Page Will Be For Updates
Regarding The
Forthcoming Boree Creek Tour

Booking forms now available HERE!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
URGENT NEWS FROM L.V.R

"LVR have decided to cancel the planned South Trip in May. This includes your planned tour to Boree Creek on the 15th May. 3237 went for a trial the other week and failed on that trial. More work needs to be done to the motion gear on that locomotive to preserve its life. I apologise for this situation we have left you in but please know the LVR are committed to supplying you a train as agreed in the near future. I will be in contact at a time when 3237 have been trialled, passed and a proven runner."
For further details, updates, or if you require a refund, please contact Greg.
It is possible retain your booking for the new date when announced. Expected to be in a few months time.
Updates will continue to be posted here!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

June 6th: Still no advice received from LVR or organiser. However, still expected to be in coming months.

April 13th: Last weekend I stayed in some wonderful accommodation in Stockinbingal. They still had a couple of cabins available for the 14th and 15th.
I couldn't recommend this place more, great cabins and wonderful people.

April 12th: As of yesterday, there was still accommodation in Junee. May be worth a look.

April 11th: ARTC have advised that the path request will likely not get the green light until two weeks out from the tour. A bit inconvenient, but advice will be given here as soon as they let us know. We still expect it will be around 8.30.

April 7th: We are aiming to start sending out tickets on April 24th.

April 4th: While still pending path approval from ARTC, we are confident that our departure time will be around 8.30am. This will be confirmed shortly.

April 3rd:
While approaching the full mark, we may have have a few seats open up over the next fortnight.
Please, if booking for more than one person, contact Greg first to determine availability.
We have been asked if another carriage would be viable. Sadly, this would have a large affect on the running time, so it was felt best not to go down that road.

April 2nd: Happy Easter Everyone.

March 31st: Excited to have been interviewed by the local Riverina media today. This is the second time there has been media interest in our tours. It helps us greatly with what we are trying to achieve.

March 30th: About 15 seats left to go. But will take some standby passengers beyond that, should there be any cancellations.

March 29th: We currently have a little more than half a carriage left free. If you don't wish to miss out, it may pay to contact Greg about seat availability soon.

March 29th: Looking for something different. Have heard people are camping at the Cootamundra Caravan Park prior to the trip.

March 28th: New 'Fun Australian Railway Tours' Facebook page launched. Updates on current tours, future tours, as well as the regional rail preservation groups we support.

March 27th: Have been catching up on all the bookings. The four FS cars are approaching full, two are down to only a couple of remaining seats. We have started filling the fifth and final car.
Please check with us before making any group bookings to ensure you can still be accommodated.

March 21st: Looking for accommodation? I am told that Young still seems to have much available.

March 16th: Still subject to confirmation from ARTC, a pathing request has been put in that would see a departure of 08.30 from Cootamundra. Allowing for a bit more of a sleep in :-)

March 16th: A quick count of seating has revealed we have past the halfway mark. We thank everyone who has booked so far, and encourage any still wanting to go, to book shortly.
If you are a group of 3-4, we recommend contacting us before booking.

March 15th: Bookings continue to grow faster than expected. We had considered this eventuality and will be using the backup MFS car.

March 15th: We are advised that the usual parties are again trying to discredit our efforts to run tours and help preservation. If you have any enquiries regarding this, please do not hesitate to make contact.

March 12th: Whole compartments are beginning to dry up. If you are a group of 3-4 people, it is suggested that you get in soon.

March 12th: A pathing request has been made and timetable should be available soon.

March 11th: Accommodation in Cootamundra is fast running out. The Wattle Tree is full, while the Cootamundra Gardens is approaching full.
Alternatives exist in Harden, Temora, Junee and Gundagai.

March 10th 2021:
We recommend, if needed, booking accommodation in Cootamundra soon.
Ticket sales have been proceeding faster that expected. But there is still plenty of seating at this time.

March 6th 2021: Booking forms now available, final departure time to be confirmed, but expected to be around 7am in the morning.

March 2021: Tour given the green light for May 15th.

Thank you to everyone who has given their support.
We aim to help as many as possible through our tours and really could not do it without you.
