The Semi-Retired Foamer has been a railfan since he was around 5 years old, oh yes a very young age, an age when one really should avoid being involved with the gunzel community to any great extent. A few rather unsavoury people bringing that fact home.
After a few decades of train chasing, one decided to break with protocol and get married, thus leading to a severe cut in railfan activity.
Subsequent dealings with hate breeders, lunatics, mental defectives and self-appointed preservation overlords lead to an even greater decrease in my hobby participation.
However things have changed thanks to our small group of trusted mates, interest has returned, and now I have become a bit more involved yet again.
.
_
Over the years I have tried my best to further both the hobby, as well as the friendships that it brings. I have done this by setting up proactive groups both here in Australia, as well as the Philippines. It is with huge honour that I am often considered the founding father of the railfan hobby in the Philippines (my second home).
_
I don't take the hobby too seriously and I am a friend to anyone who is good and genuine. But never forgive those who have used their hate to destroy my hobby or hurt the friends within it.

Let's Make The Hobby Great Again!
I aim to share the era that I considered mine, the 80s and 90s. I also like to help promote, and even raise funds for, the various heritage societies that keep the era alive

RANDOM BUS GUFF - PART 9

This selection of random bus guff, is not quite as random in guffness, as earlier installments of random bus guff.

This lot mostly consists of Sydney Bus operations in the south-eastern region. They are all primarily from earlier this year, with a couple of small diversions.

I can't give much in the way of details, as buses all mostly look the same to me in 2021 :-)

They are what they are.

QUEENSLAND PT1

Howdee, due to the outstandingly mediocre response to the South Australian series, it was readily apparent that I should follow it up with a Queensland one.

Railfans from back in the 80s and 90s would be well aware of the derogatory names Southerner fans, most of whom had never been there, used to use for Queensland railways. These comments were, regretfully, accepted as fact by myself, and meant that it would not be until around 1993 that a family visit to Redcliffe saw my first take of rail in the Sunshine State.

That first visit turned into an obsession. For fans of narrow gauge, Queensland is an absolute rail mecca. I still look forward to the rare visit, mostly for Moreton Mill research around the Sunshine Coast.

This series will cover mainline and sugar cane notes over the years, the photos will cover the same. The two topics will appear in separate series though.

Enjoy, or hate, that choice is purely up to you. :-)

A rather damaged 1726 with 1526 behind.
While the 1720 would be scrapped, 1526 would be rebuilt as 42305 for use in New South Wales, before later going to Saudi Arabia, where she is operational as #5.

Inglewood is in the branch line that originally went to Dirranbandi (now to Thallon). It was the junction for the former line to Texas.

Texas is the terminus of the former branch line from Inglewood (see above).
There is a museum here nowadays. They have a plan to reopen part of the line from the terminus.

Millmerran was the terminus of the primarily grain branch line from Wyreema on the southern line. The line has since been closed.

Like it or not, the QR maroon/yellow livery sure looked different on the few 1520 that received it.
Alas, 1520 has since gone to god.
