The Semi-Retired Foamer has been a railfan since he was around 5 years old, oh yes a very young age, an age when one really should avoid being involved with the gunzel community to any great extent. A few rather unsavoury people bringing that fact home.
After a few decades of train chasing, one decided to break with protocol and get married, thus leading to a severe cut in railfan activity.
Subsequent dealings with hate breeders, lunatics, mental defectives and self-appointed preservation overlords lead to an even greater decrease in my hobby participation.
However things have changed thanks to our small group of trusted mates, interest has returned, and now I have become a bit more involved yet again.

Over the years I have tried my best to further both the hobby, as well as the friendships that it brings. I have done this by setting up proactive groups both here in Australia, as well as the Philippines. It is with huge honour that I am often considered the founding father of the railfan hobby in the Philippines (my second home).

I don't take the hobby too seriously and I am a friend to anyone who is good and genuine. But never forgive those who have used their hate to destroy my hobby or hurt the friends within it.

Let's Make The Hobby Great Again!
I aim to share the era that I considered mine, the 80s and 90s. I also like to help promote, and even raise funds for, the various heritage societies that keep the era alive

A FUNNY THING HAPPENED

100,000

Welcome to all my readers, haters and those of you who just stumbled across the site while looking for something far more worthwhile.
A could of weeks ago I noticed that the 'Semi Retired Foamer' blog was approaching 100,000 members. I have never had a huge obsession with viewer numbers, so only ever occasionally looked.
Curiosity had me looking ever few days to see how fast these numbers actually grow, while I also wished to acknowledge the 100,000 milestone when we achieved it.

  However, yesterday something strange happened.
Within 3 hours of posting '48er Fest - Part 4', I had attracted 1770 viewers, a record for the website, and eclipsing my earlier record of 1150 viewers following a posting about the Sydney Filipino community on another blog.
It also meant that we flew past the 100,000 viewers I had plan to mark straight away.

By the close of counting yesterday, it had got to 1990 viewers. There being less than 1000 more needed to reach the entire amount of viewers for last month.

Google/Blogger also gives you the location of all viewers, something that is very interesting and often quite surprising.
After the first 3 hours yesterday, Australian viewers were 6th down on the list, after the USA, Egypt, Indonesia and, amazingly, Vietnam, which was second on the list.

However, after the 24 hour period was finished, the top ones were:

USA - 479
Vietnam - 279
Australia - 213
Brazil - 177
Indonesia - 139

Egypt - 128
Argentina - 98
India - 80
Dominican Rebublic - 61
Azerbaijan (Where I think Borat came from) - 48

The above is probably all useless trivia of the type mostly obsessed over by self-appointed railfan supremos. However, it does show some truly humbling numbers of people who, for whatever reason, take the time to view and read the pointless drivel I inflict upon the world.
To all those, now 100.769, I thank you for having enough interest.
I truly hope I can continue to entertain.
