The Semi-Retired Foamer has been a railfan since he was around 5 years old, oh yes a very young age, an age when one really should avoid being involved with the gunzel community to any great extent. A few rather unsavoury people bringing that fact home.
After a few decades of train chasing, one decided to break with protocol and get married, thus leading to a severe cut in railfan activity.
Subsequent dealings with hate breeders, lunatics, mental defectives and self-appointed preservation overlords lead to an even greater decrease in my hobby participation.
However things have changed thanks to our small group of trusted mates, interest has returned, and now I have become a bit more involved yet again.
.
_
Over the years I have tried my best to further both the hobby, as well as the friendships that it brings. I have done this by setting up proactive groups both here in Australia, as well as the Philippines. It is with huge honour that I am often considered the founding father of the railfan hobby in the Philippines (my second home).
_
I don't take the hobby too seriously and I am a friend to anyone who is good and genuine. But never forgive those who have used their hate to destroy my hobby or hurt the friends within it.

Let's Make The Hobby Great Again!
I aim to share the era that I considered mine, the 80s and 90s. I also like to help promote, and even raise funds for, the various heritage societies that keep the era alive

Philippine Railway Historical Society News and History!

PHILIPPINE RAILWAY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The sister group to this one, looking at the railway (and other) hobby in the Philippines.
There are still railways in the Philipines and expansion seems likely.
Railfanning there is not the fun experience it once was, the growing numbers of security guard, and paranoia, has made it a little bit harder to conduct our pastime.
However, at least they are paid minions, unlike the self-appointed railfan nazis we ut up within Australia.
Better still, most seem horrified by the prospect of telling a foreigner what to do.

If bored, come and look at our PRHS blog, you may find yourself enticed enough to go argue with moronic security guard as a change from moronic foamers, and the groups about them. Hiya Greg.

PART 5

It is with some sadness that we reach the final instalment of our SMUT "Preservation Volunteers" series, a look at SMUTTERs giving to preservation.
I hope that we have been able to show you the great work our members do, despite the accusations of a couple of self-appointed railway preservation supremos.
This important work, regardless of the haters, and we encourage everyone to try to donate a little of their time to forwarding the hobby.
Let's make railfanning great again :-)

Thank you for viewing our tribute to SMUTTERs and their great
work in the area of preservation.

Whether it is rail, bus or water based, there is a good chance you will find a SMUTTER in there and hard at it.

The haters may hate - But they are never going to win.

HELP SAVE A HISTORIC LADY

Readers, please take the time to fill out the petition at the attached link.
Please also try to get as many as you can to likewise sign and post it
to the address given.

The government has said that they will only accept signatures done in this way.
We are aiming to get as many as possible as quickly as possible.

Please help to show the NSW government that the loss of these priceless Sydney icons is just intolerable.

The petition can be printed HERE.

PART 4

Welcome to the fourth part of our look at SMUTTERs doing their bit for railway preservation. As each part has appeared, the contributions have continued to increase.
In view of this, parts 4 and 5 will be extended in length to try to catch up.

The series has also lead to the suggestion of recognizing those SMUTTERs who give so much to the model railway hobby. The suggestion has been taken up and will start early in 2018.
We will soon be asking for contributions to that.

A project the Semi-Retired Foamer and S*M*U*T are proud to be part of.

Howdee, and welcome back to the third installment of our rapidly growing photographic expose on the preservation efforts of S*M*U*T group members.

What started out as a two part article, has inspired people to send in enough shots to ensure at least one more following this.
All this has lead me to reflect on the group and how lucky we are to have those who are in it. Such a great, hard working and dedicated group of volunteers, giving their all, despite the negativity that a few in the preservation hobby aim their way.

Without you guys we would be much the poorer.

Brad has devoted a large amount of time to promoting railway
heritage in the Philippines.
After eight years of effort, 2007 saw the first attempt at setting u an official railway preservation group.
This group went on to restore the historic BUDA car above, as well as donating to a heritage railway display at the main passenger terminal of Tutuban.
He is currently working on the early stages of something bigger.

Welcome back to the second part of our look at the great work of the
"Strange Modelers of Universal Trains' members and the great work they do.
Our group is based on friendship and giving back to the railway hobby. Two things that seem to scare so many people.
The first part of this article inspired many more to send in, even more, shots of SMUTTERs at work in the preservation scene.
Thank you to one and all.
