The Semi-Retired Foamer has been a railfan since he was around 5 years old, a very young age when one really should avoid being involved with the gunzel community to any great extent.
After a few decades of train chasing, one decided to break with protocol and get married, thus leading to a severe cut in railfan activity.
Subsequent dealings with social misfits, lunatics, mental defectives and self-appointed experts lead to an even greater decrease in my hobby participation.
However things have changed thanks to our small group of trusted mate, interest has returned, and now I have become a bit more involved yet again. Having learned to laugh, with others, at all the more 'Moronic Foamers'.
.Oh the irony that lays behind that group name and the person who set it up..

So What Causes A Spadge Throsby Nowdays?

As one steadily proceeds through life towards the guaranteed doom we all face, I find myself interested in some more specific areas of the hobby.

Gone be the days when a huge mainliner would entice, or a branchline wheatie would arouse, replaced by interests in former coal lines of the Hunter region, narrow gauge railways, the history of railways in the Philippines and hanging out at karaoki nights with all the Filipina hornbags one can find.

Yeeeeeeeeesss occasionally the 'Semi-Retired Foamer' can still be found lineside passing time looking at trains (and passing hornbags), but in reality one is no more happier than when engrossed in the areas he enjoys most.

Hunter Diamonds Yahoogroup
This forum was recently set up to explore the history of the coal railways of New South Wales Hunter coalfields, a special emphasis on the SMR and RVR. It also extends to include the current day operations in the region.
If ya feel like talkin, then head on over.

Check out the 'Semi Retired Foamer' blog next week for a sordid look at my activities after dark. It isn't for the faint hearted.
