INSIDE REDBANK WORKSHOP - 6-6-2005

There are many out there who believe in miracles, some even claim to have experienced such.

While I don't greatly believe in such, this day would surely come close.

Sixteen years have passed since we gained access to the large railway workshops at Redbank (Brisbane  Queensland) and, given this length of time, I've absolutely no recollection of how we come to be treated to such a great visit.

However, treated we were, and photograph we did. :-)

I am pretty sure a lot more photos were taken on the day, but I have not yet come across them. When I do, I shall be sure to place them here on the site.

Thirteen of the big General Electric beasts were built by Goninan for use on coal traffic over the McNaughton and Newlands lines.
By this time, they had been defaced with the standard maxicab design. After spending some time on the line to Mt Isa, they were sold and shipped to South Africa.
They will soon be covered on the 'Australian Locomotive Rosters' website.
