PENROSE RAILWAY STATION

1869: Opened as Cables Siding.

1871: Renamed Penrose

1916: Relocated to current location.

Station is still open and in daily use.

The name is believed to be that of a Cornish family.

It was suggested by a Mrs Hammond, an early pioneer to the area, who had come from Cornwall (UK).
She was apparently a good friend of the family.
